Laser Tattoo Removal

  • Fewer treatment sessions than with traditional lasers. With the PicoSure, you are likely to need 3-8 sessions to remove your tattoo, leaving behind almost no trace (compared to 10-20 sessions with a traditional laser).

  • With the Picosecond laser, treatments only needs to be done once every 8 weeks – so less often than with traditional lasers.

  • Significantly more comfortable than any other tattoo removal laser treatment. However, where there is increased sensitivity, the clinician can provide local anaesthetic if needed.

  • Clearance of resistant colours eg. blues and greens

  • The new 532nm handpiece, specifically targets red, oranges and yellow inks more efficiently than ever before.

  • PicoSecond is able to effectively remove the recalcitrant inks in tattoos that other laser treatments have left behind

  • Reduced side effects, with less injury to surrounding tissue

  • Provided the aftercare instructions are followed, there is little risk of scarring and less chance of changes in pigmentation than after traditional laser removal.

  • All clients are required to undergo a patch test in order to monitor the skins response to the the treatment. The patch test is carried out by performing the laser treatment on a small area of the desired tattoo for removal.

  • Contraindications List; Epilepsy, heart conditions, deficient immune system, pregnancy, breastfeeding, electrical implant of pacemaker, anticoagulant medicines such as warfarin or aspirin, steroids, antibiotics, recent surgery, metal plates or pins, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, broken bones, previous or recent treatments in the area, some skin conditions, sunburn on the area, moles in the area of treatment, sensitive skin

  1. Potential pigmentation changes to the skin which generally tend to be temporary but could be permanent. This could be al lightning or a darkening of the skin.

  2. Paradoxical darkening of tattoo pigment: This is when the pigment is combined with white titanium dioxide. Under laser this could potentially turn black as patch test will be required and written consent will need to be obtained.

  3. Thermal Injury and scarring: This is rare due to the length that is required between laser tattoo removal sessions.

  4. Tattoo granulomas:This is considered as an allergic reaction.

  • Side effects may include, blisters, itching, redness, darkening of the tattoo, loss of skin pigment, or allergic reaction. These effects should be temporary. In the event of an allergic reaction, please consult your GP immediately

  • Textural changes to the skin or scarring (permanent)

  • Residual ink (permanent)

  • Sun exposure, including tanning beds and the application of sunless tanning products, must be avoided for 2 weeks prior and after the treatment, preferably 4 weeks. Sun exposure, tanning, and sunless tanning products decrease the effectiveness of the laser treatment and increase the chance of post-treatment complications.

  • Area to be treated must be clean, and free of any lotion, makeup, and sunscreen. If you have any of these on, they must be completely washed off prior to treatment.

  • Accutane and any other photosensitizing medication should be discontinued for a period of at least 6 months prior to receiving treatment and should not be used during your course of treatment.

  • Waxing and/or the use of chemical depilatories must be avoided in the treatment area for 2 weeks before and after the treatment to avoid skin sensitivity. Shaving is allowed before treatment to remove surface hair in the areas to be treated.

  • You may not be pregnant for any treatment.

  • During the course of your treatments, notify our staff of any changes to your medical history, health status, or personal activities that may be relevant to your treatment.

  • Immediately after treatment, there may be “frosting” on the area that is treated. Redness and swelling is typical. Pinpoint bleeding may also occur.

  • A cool compress may be applied and Tylenol is recommended for discomfort.

  • The treated area should be cared for delicately until healing is complete and care should be taken to avoid trauma to the area for the first 7 days after treatment.

  • Clean treated area daily allowing water or shower to run over the wound, and then pat the area dry.

  • Apply Aquaphor ointment to wound area 2-3 times a day. Keep the area moist, and let the scab fall off on its own.

  • Cover the treated area with a nonstick Telfa gauze pad (after Aquaphor is applied) until the wound is healed.

  • Do NOT pick, peel, rub, scrub, or scratch at the skin in the treatment area throughout the healing process. If crusting occurs, do not shave or pick area.

  • Although blisters and scabs can be a normal response to tattoo removal, most patients will not experience them. In the case that you do, it is important to not pop or pick at them. If the blister pops on its own, keep the skin over it covered with a healing ointment and gauze to promote healing and prevent scarring.

  • No swimming or using hot tubs/whirlpools until the wound heals.

  • Physical exercise that causes perspiration should be discontinued for at least 2-7 days after treatment as excessive perspiration may disrupt the healing process.

  • Avoid sun exposure. When treatment area is exposed to the sun use a thick layer of 30+ SPF sunblock with zinc oxide and reapply every 2 hours.

  • We recommend taking supplements to help boost your immune system whilst you undergo laser tattoo removal. We recommend the following;
    1. Activated Charcoal - Helps binds to toxins and rid the body. Helps boost the function of the kidneys.
    2. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) - Helps to boost the immune system and detoxifiy and reduce liver and kidney damage. It also helps neutralize free radicals that can damage cells and tissues in your body.

  • It’s important to note that even after many sessions, residual ink may remain in the skin. If the skin has thickened due to permanent tattoo-related infiltration or scarring, it is more difficult for the laser to penetrate the skin.

  • There is a slight risk of scarring when having laser treatment, however it should be noted that, the bigger concern would be scarring from the tattoo itself. The patient may see scarring that was already present, that isn’t noticeable until the tattoo pigment is removed.

  • The removal of professional tattoo’s may entail around 2-25 sessions with intervals of 5-6 weeks

No, we do not need to shave off your eyebrows hair for the removal process. In some cases the procedure can help stimulate growth. There is also a small chance that the brow hair may be lightened during treatment or in the case that some brow hairs are effected, they will grow back.

Yes, we can lighten or remove red pigmentation with our laser machine. Multiple sessions may be required.

This is dependant on the age of the tattoo, the size, the colour, the layering of the tattoo and any scarring or tissue changes due to the tattoo. Another factor to consider is how far away thew tattoo is from the hearts the closer the ink is to the heart the quicker it is carried through the blood stream and eliminated.

As pain is subjective it is hard to answer this question. Laser tattoo removal can feel uncomfortable and has been described similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

Clients may apply approved numbing cream to the area prior to the treatment to relieve some of the sensation of the procedure. We do not supply numbing cream.

As the tattoo ink is broken down through the lymphatic system it may cause a weakening in the immune system. It is important for clients to avoid engaging in activities that may further damage or weaken the system. This includes excessive alcohol consumption swell as illegal or prescribed drugs.

From The People

His knowledge in his specialist fields and beyond, have helped me so much with the issues I have had. I have gone in with pain and he's instantly known what the problem is and put it right whilst explaining how/what's caused it. The combination of being extremely accomplished in both osteopathy and cranio sacral therapy is a gold dusted godsend. I always feel completely at ease and completely confident when going to Ross with issues.

— Dom

Ross has been nothing more than an exemplary osteopath for me and everyone I have recommended him too. After resolving my Long standing back and neck issues I can not recommend him any higher than I do.Super calming and soothing space which enables you to feel safe and relaxed.

— Leon Cook

After 6months of pain in my shoulder. I attended Ross' clinic. It was a very provisional and calm environment. After explaining my issues i had been suffering Ross was able to diagnosis and fix the problem. There was no pressure of a follow up visit as Ross was confident I was now sorted... and he was right. Cannot recommend this guy high enough. Cheers
